To The Tee

Architecture for a Junior Golf Academy

Scope
Architecture, Landscape design
About
Year: 2020
Situated on a site that spans 22 acres, the academy is a very exciting, fresh and upcoming junior golf training venue, near Devanahalli, Bangalore. As architects of the project, we worked on the various structures coming up at the academy.

The views on the site are filled with lush greens and a remarkably beautiful sky, and we incorporated the openness and essence of the site in our designs to the best extent.

The Entry deck and Driving deck are both designed as steel structures, with a free, welcoming essence to them.

Entry deck
The Entry deck consists of the main entry gate, security cabin, a pedestrian walkway and a waiting area. This is the first thing one can see while approaching the site.

A steel structure, the entry deck was made using local sadarahalli stone as the wall infills. Below are detailed 3D drawings of the joineries used to create the entry deck structure.

Driving Deck
The Driving Deck, is a pavilion structure spanning about 7000 sft. Here, golfers practice their swing (called driving) while positioning themselves on a mat. This driving deck will have 24 bays, with space for one mat in each bay.

Compound wall
The compound wall at involved using the material that existed already on site, and putting it to use in such a way that it feels like a boundary of a welcoming junior golf academy.
The wall had to be porous yet secure, welcoming yet untrespassable. The combination of local sadarahalli stone slabs and a simple steel mesh with thoughtfully planted creepers did the trick!

These stones were assembled by locals who work with great precision, and at a mindboggling speed!
Ps. This entire wall (about 300ft-was put together in just 3 days!)
